Pride Gallery and Library

The Pride Gallery

Introduced for Manchester Pride 2025, the Pride Gallery brings together a group of artists and creatives from across the University. The gallery will evolve over time as more creatives submit their work. This evolution, in turn, transforms the gallery into an ever shifting representation of our diverse community and, it is hoped, will act as an archive for the work our colleagues and students have produced and/or chosen to share in increasingly uncertain times.

Brought together under the banner 'Pride', there is not singular theme or medium of work that defines the gallery, it is rather defined by the call to act and share creative work with others.

It is with this in mind that the notion of visibility runs throughout, a desire to be represented and to represent oneself through creative expression.

The Pride Library

Also Introduced for 2025 is the Pride Library, an online collection of works from LGBTQ+ authors, writers and thinkers, curated by The University of Manchester's Library staff.

Often, LGBTQ+ works and collections can become hidden amongst heteronormative canon. However, with The Pride Library, queer histories and stories are front and centre.

Spanning genres, themes, and timelines we invite you to discover and engage with the library, and to queer it.

Further Information

Throughout history, LGBTQ+ people have turned to the arts to document their experiences, to chart their own histories, and present different possibilities for the world, and the Pride Gallery and Library are no different.

They are a bold expression of LGBTQ+ existence. We hope as Manchester Pride approaches, the Gallery and Library provides you with a moment to pause and reflect, and to enjoy.
