Get involved

Pride month has hit Manchester and the University will be joining the celebrations however we can!

There are many ways you can take part in the Pride fun this month!

We'll have some messages of support from our senior leadership team, so make sure you watch, share, and like on all the social media platforms. Get involved by tweeting to @UoMLGBT and including the hashtag #UoMPride.

Why not become an ALLOUT Ally? Allies can show their support through engaging in ALLOUT events and activities to support LGBTQIA+ staff and students at the University.

Learn how you can become an ALLOUT Ally here.

We have a great background for everyone to use on their video calls. Show your pride with our specially designed UoM Pride background.

Get your Video calls Background here!

We'd like to encourage everyone to update their surname on their email signature and on Zoom/Teams to include their pronouns - showing us as a fully inclusive organisation!

Learn how to update your pronouns on Zoom and Teams here!

You can find out more about the importance of pronouns here.

Our friends at Manchester Museum had plenty going on in 2020, when Covid-19 meant a postponing of in person celebrations. These can still be found through the following links:

Queer Tales: Myth and Magic is a family friendly digital drag show, co-curated with Cheddar Gorgeous, one of Manchester’s most celebrated drag queens and will include artistic responses to Manchester Museum's collection by an international cast of drag performers. The performance explore both ancient and modern mythologies through a queer eye. The reworking of myths and monsters from marginalised perspectives is not only a reminder that LGBTQ+ people have always existed, it is also a powerful way to challenge patriarchal narratives and to celebrate the queer experience. At the start of August 2020 Manchester Museum launched Queering Manchester Museum, a programme of digital activities and resources on their mobile site Manchester Museum from Home www.mmfromhome.com/lgbtq-history-month. This includes digital and downloadable activities for families and a digital trail which brings LGBTQ+ voices to some of our most iconic objects as well as some hidden gems.
